Samoan Language Week

Samoan Language Week (Gagana Faasamoa)

This week was extra special, as Samoa also celebrated its 60th year of Independence. KSC started off this week with enjoying some traditional Samoan foods, like koko laisa, donuts and sapasui. Some students were even brave enough, to participate in the chee-hoo and high note challenges during the week. Congratulations to the students that won the drawing competition. Their prize was presented to them in a coconut shell. It was pleasing to see students and a few staff members, get into the spirit of speaking the language and building awareness. If you want to find out more, please check out our short video on the KSC Facebook Page.

Refugee Week 2022

What a great way to end off Term 2 – with the celebrating of Refugee Week (Theme – Healing) To all those who’ve come from far and wide. We’re happy you’re safe. We’re happy you’re free. We’re happy you’re here!

On Monday during Lunch club, we had Share-A-Meal, this was well received from students who were keen to taste the chicken rice. We served over 200 bowls on this day – wow! A variety of activities were conducted during the week in the Library that promoted the Healing theme. Activity stations ranged from colour-in therapy, positive messages, skin care and even the planting of herb and flower seeds.

Thankyou to all that continue to spread positivity and good vibes!
