Maths in Term Two

During this term, in Numeracy the Year One Classes have been working on various concepts including time, place value, graphs, money and numerical operations. We have seen such fantastic progress and students overcoming challenges within this time every Year One student should be proud of their achievements.

The Year One Classes have been working in diverse ways in the classroom including working independently, working with a partner, group tasks and small group work with their teacher.

To further Numeracy learning opportunities, students will continue to work in rotations and develop an ownership of their learning. In the Year One classrooms we will continue hold discussions around mathematics goals for each student to include their voice in the outcomes of their efforts.

We have loved working with you all to support our wonderful students. We both enjoyed the opportunity to meet with you again during Parent Teacher Interviews, to discuss how well each child is progressing.

Thank you for your continued support in your child's wellbeing and academic success. We have had an amazing term. We cannot believe we are already half way through!

We hope you all have a lovely holiday and we can't wait to see our incredible students in Term Three!

Miss Kelly and Mr. McFarlane

Term Three Tricky Words

Through the InitiaLit program a range of Tricky Words are taught. These words are referred to as Tricky Words as they cannot be spelled by sounding them out. After reading with your child, feel free to extend them by practising the words below.

Change to Take Home Readers

For every person reading is an important life long skill. We strongly encourage reading everyday to support your child's consolidation of this ability.  Next term, one to two readers will be given out on a Monday and changed over the following Monday. This change will allow more opportunities for your child to practise their reading.

Readers will be given on a Monday and are required to be returned on the following Monday.
