Year 7 News

Vermont Secondary College

Welcome back Year 7s to Term 3.

We hope you all had a wonderful break and are ready to move into the second half of Year 7 – already!

End of Semester 1 reports were made available on COMPASS at the end of last term.

All students and parents are encouraged to read them thoroughly and reflect on the areas for improvement.

Parents, please call the general office if you have lost/forgotten your parent password for COMPASS.

The Victorian Department of Health strongly recommends that face masks are worn  in indoor settings.

Please support your Year 7s by providing comfortable and effective masks to wear. The purpose is to keep us all safe and well and we can certainly agree on that.

We will also continue to have wintery days so remember to keep warm within the school uniform requirements.

A friendly reminder that students must have a lock on their locker.  Student will lose the use of their locker if it continues to be left unsecured.  Our school policy states that “The Department of Education and Training (DET), and thus VSC also, does not have insurance for personal property students. VSC does not take responsibility for items of personal property that are lost, stolen or damaged at school or during school activities.”  Valuable items should therefore be personally insured or left at home and lockers should also be locked.

Bunnings Planting Day - 22/6/2022

In the last week of Term 2 a keen group of Year 7 students came together with Bunnings staff to create a veggie patch and a decorative garden outside the N9 classroom.

Students Jordy D, Michael B and Alistair G were joined by Year 9 Rithik K where they put on new gardening gloves and planted Rainbow spinach, and a beautiful Snow Fountain weeping cherry tree.

Fortunately the rain showers held off and Marie Apostolopoulos, the Activities Organiser from Vermont South Bunnings and Reiha Ternes from Notting Hill Bunnings kindly discussed best gardening practices. Topics such as compost, soil composition, mulch, seedlings and garden maintenance were covered.

All products were generously donated through a sponsorship from Bunnings.

Exciting plans are in progress once the vegetables have grown!
