Year 10 Commerce – The Big Issue Classroom

Year 10 Commerce classes have recently had guest speakers from ‘The Big Issue’ (a social enterprise that sees an independent magazine sold on the streets by people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage) to complement their unit on living standards.  

“In Year 10 commerce we got to be involved in an online interview with two guest speakers from The Big Issue. The Big Issue interview was a great learning experience for all of the commerce students. We were able to contribute to activities, listen to personal experiences of a past homeless individual and also have a Q&A with the guest speakers. We gained a deeper understanding about marginalisation, community, inequality and homelessness which all help with our current topic. It was a great chance to acquire more knowledge about Economics and an engaging variant of learning in the classroom”
