CONGRATULATIONS

A few weeks ago Yr 1 students, and students from several other schools in Tamworth were invited to a zoom session with Hazel Edwards author of the delightful series "There's a hippopotamus on our roof....".

This event was made possible through our contact Amy at the Town Library.

Unfortunately technology was not Hazel's friend so it did not eventuate. However Amy organized a colouring in competition for the students. All participants received a participation certificate.

Amy also donated a book to our library rewarding us for patience shown while waiting for Hazel to connect to the zoom.

The winning entry chosen from our group came from Cooper Albertson in 1B. Cooper pictured below received a book and certificate for his efforts. Amy responded with "Thank you Cooper.  We, at the Town Library loved your colouring in , especially the sunnies."

THANK YOU

Thank you to the Library Leaders showing patience waiting for the new badges to arrive. Thank you also to Grace, Erin and Anna for their contribution to "Whitney and Britney, Chicken Divas".   Your enthusiasm and creativity is appreciated by all.

BOOK VOUCHERS

Congratulations to the BEST BORROWERS for Terms 1 / 2. These students received a certificate and a $5 voucher to spend on a bookclub next term.

HOLIDAY READING

WOW WOW WOW    WOW WOW WOW    WOW WOW WOW

Is all I can say at the excitement when I say students can borrow extras for the holidays.

Just remember to bring them all back after the holidays please. I don't mind a little trickle of sand falling out of the book as I return it.

AUTHOR READING TIPS - SALLY RIPPIN

NDL  / Weekender section, May 16, 2020: Sally Rippin - Billie B Brown series.

Sally had some great tips for us all. Here are a few in case you missed it.

*Talk to your child/children about books - which ones did you read as a child?

*What are they reading?

*What are their friends reading?

*Make books a prominent part of your family's life.

Many of us found time to read during lockdown. Try to keep that going.

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE 2020

WELL DONE to the students who have already completed the Premier's Reading Challenge.

The Challenge concludes mid August so holiday time is a good chance to catch up on some reading if your child is lagging behind the required number.

I understand during lockdown many students were reading their own books from home and / or utilising online reading platforms.

Next term I will send home a confirmation note targeting those students who the library computer identifies as not having borrowed / read the correct number of books to complete the Challenge. Parents you are the best judges of what and how many books your child read through the lockdown period. This will affect those students eg in Yr 6 who are eligible for a Platinum Certificate (7yrs completion), or primary grades, for a Gold Certificate (4yrs not consecutive years).
