Wellbeing Hub Update

The Wellbeing Hub Update

RAISE Mentoring

A group of Year 8 students have commenced the RAISE Mentoring Program this term online. They meet with their mentoring group and have the opportunity to focus on a different theme of discussion each week.

DnD Club

DnD has moved online as we move to defeat not only the world pandemic but also the dark forces leaking in the dungeons below. If you want to join a party email our School Counsellor Colin and the adventure will begin.

The Wellbeing Hub encourages students to participate in games with one another during this period. With clear rules and positive interactions students are able to have fun and challenge their minds in a fun filled frantic fictional farce!

The school supported RUOK? Day and we hope that the school community reap the benefits of reaching out to their friends and family. BHHS encourages strong connections and promotes a sense of belonging which we all have to work harder at during lockdown.

Welcome to our New School Counsellor – Tiffany Casey

We are lucky to have Tiffany Casey join our Wellbeing Team who has a wealth of experience as a wellbeing coordinator and school counsellor. She has spent time counselling in Bhutan where Gross Domestic Happiness (GDH) is valued higher than Gross Domestic Product (GDP)! Her enthusiastic but calm approach has been welcomed by the team and she has enjoyed getting to know our students, albeit remotely.

'Children who are heading back to the classroom ... are facing unusual challenges, and one of them is anxiety about being separated from their families after months of togetherness. For some kids it will trigger separation anxiety, in addition to the anxiety they may feel about leaving their safe harbor from the pandemic...'

Ideas for Motivation

  1. Create a weekly schedule, packed with plenty of breaks and achievable, small daily goals.
  2. Acknowledge and celebrate the little wins each day for you or your child.
  3. Daily exercise and fresh air (time in nature is beneficial for motivation).
