Senior Team Report

Senior School Expo and Subject Selection for 2021

Another big change this year due to COVID-19 has been the process of subject selection and the Senior School Expo. Thank you to all teachers, Domain Leaders and Learning Leaders for all their hard work moving the Senior School Expo online.

A big thank you to all Year 9, 10 and 11 students for being very organised and on time for their course advising sessions via Teams this term. All course advisors were very impressed with the students they spoke to and subjects for over 700 students have been chosen for next year.

Year 11 Exams Year 11 teachers have been working with the students on improving their study and exam skills over the last two weeks in preparation for the Year 11 exams. The exams will run remotely in Week 10 Term 3 during class doubles. No online classes will be running during week 10 for Year 11 classes and the exam will be the LFH (Learning From Home) task. Online tutorials/classes will still be running for Year 10 and year 12 subjects and students will need to attend those. The focus for exams is exam preparation, consolidation of essential knowledge and application of feedback.

Week 1 Term 4 for Senior Students

Classes and SACs in Week 1 of Term 4 have been re-organised as a result of the GAT and the need for some SACs to be completed at school. Social distancing measures will be in place for the GAT with more spacing between desks and hand sanitising and temperature checks before entrance to the exam centres.

Year 12 classes:

Monday/Tuesday: One double period per class (taught remotely)

Wednesday: GAT (on site)

Thursday/Friday: SACs (on site)

Year 11 classes:

No online tutorial running during this week but a LFH plan will be provided.

This will assist students in preparing for their final Year 12 SAC/s.

Year 10 classes:

Online tutorials and LFH plan as per Term 3.

Prefects and Year 11 Leaders

We have recently started the process for electing our new student leadership groups for 2021. Students received information about the timeline for applications and voting last week. Year 10 and 11 students will vote in the Year 11 Leader and Prefect groups early in Term 4. Our 2020 Prefects and Year 11 Leaders have done a sensational job in leading the wider school cohort this year with innovative new ways to support the school community. We look forward to seeing our new leadership groups continue to build on this.

Senior Student Achievements

We're very proud of our senior students who are featured in the Student Achievements section of this newsletter - Hayden Taylor chosen for Open Fanfare, Belle White on the Vic SRC Executive Committee and our four students participating in the State Schools Spectacular. Wonderful achievements at any time, and especially during such a challenging year!
