CBCA Shortlist

(Children's Book Council of Australia)

Mrs Lemon our College Librarian has purchased many of the books on the CBCA shortlist.  They are on display at the Library Learning Centre over the next couple of weeks.

Overdue Library Books and Class Novels

Our College Librarian Mrs Lemon is requesting that students have a look in their rooms for any stray library books or class novels. The titles "Trash', 'Macbeth' and 'The Outsiders' are titles the library is particularly interested in having returned.

Don't worry if you find a novel or text from a previous year, we will be just glad to have it returned. There is no penalty for late returns.

New Books

The Library regularly purchases new titles. We have been pleased to have so many students borrowing recently thanks to a recent focus on reading for pleasure by our College English faculty.  We love hearing what they think of the books they read.

Southern Cross University - STAR Early Offer Program

The STAR Early Offer applications close 11 September 2020 (Today Friday).  Just 3 weeks to go, don’t miss out. The STAR program allows you to secure your place in a Southern Cross University degree before your Year 12 results are even released. It’s designed to remove some of the pressure from Year 12 and give you a pathway directly into university study. Applications are free and direct to Southern Cross University at:

UTS

The University of Technology's Schools Recommendation Scheme is aimed at helping Year 12 students gain entry into university when their ATAR alone may not be sufficient.  It seeks to recognise students for other skills and achievements outside their performance in Year 12, including their overall suitability for tertiary study, based on a recommendation from their school principal (or careers advisor).

For 2021 the UTS Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) has been expanded to recognise the considerable disruption many students have faced in their Year 12 studies due to COVID-19, as well as students that face a range of educational disadvantages.
