School’s Tree Day

We certainly were lucky to get in our School’s Tree Day in on the last week before remote learning 2.0 started.  Simon (our groundsman) did an amazing job at rounding up over 400 plants to be planted by all the Scotsburn students and the Grade 4’s at Buninyong.

On Monday, 27 July, Scotsburn got their hand dirty with Bianca from the Leigh Catchment Group to further ‘green up’ their beautiful campus.  Most of the new trees were planted along the fence line and throughout some of their gardens.  We were very impressed with the tree planting skills the staff and students showed.

On Friday, 31 July, the Grade 4 Buninyong team got busy with the help of the Ballarat City Council and Mark from the Friends of the Buninyong Royal Botanical Gardens to plant out the roundabout on the corner of Inglis and Yuille St and the Cornish and Simpson St fence lines of our school.  Again the students and staff did a wonderful job planting, staking and protecting the newest members of our school.

We certainly look forward to seeing them grow over the coming months and years.  A big shout out goes to the following people/groups for making the day possible:

  • Simon
  • Daniel Sirmisma (Ballarat City Council)
  • City of Ballarat Indigenous Plant Nursery
  • Bianca (Leigh Catchment Group)
  • Mark (Friends of the Buninyong Royal Botanical Gardens)
  • Scotsburn and the Grade 4 students and staff

Bunnings Donations:

Despite these crazy times, Bunnings have been very generous to us by donating a number of items for our gardens and grounds.  They very kindly donated sugar cane mulch, general purpose potting mix, native plants, rakes and worm farms which have been distributed to both campus’.

We would very much like to thank Leanne and the team at Bunnings Delacombe for looking after us.
