Dealing with Social Isolation with Clinical Psychologist Dr Michelle Lim

Social isolation makes us anxious because humans ourselves are built to be social, and to function and flourish in groups. When we are isolated, we might be feeling really stressed out, anxious and sad.

Some of the tips you can use to manage this period of isolation is first of all identify that it is actually okay to feel stressed out, because its an unusual set of circumstances that all of us face. Second of all, we really need to increase our coping strategies to manage our stress. For some people, it might be actually slowing everything down, so it could be things like meditation, listening to relaxation music. For other people it could be increasing their activities, so it could be doing some home exercises.

So, there is lots of variety of things we can do and its about trying to find what works for you.
