From the Principal
Dear families, carers, students, staff and community,
We are now working in a remote mode across the school. LinkIT has changed this time around. We really listened to your advice from last time, and even though we accept that home learning can be a challenge, the research tells us that young people have great capacity for online learning, but much less facility and persistence with online schooling.
That’s why we have changed, from a learning only type approach to a relationship, wellness and wellbeing focussed approach. I wanted to share with you the main changes.
What’s different this time?
The difference this time is recognition that we have 4 modes:
- Technological Mode
- Resource Kit Mode
- My Life Box Mode
- Wellness and Wellbeing mode
Changes in a nutshell:
- We have reduced video lengths that include interactive elements
- We will have more regular live check ins with students and families
- We will be reducing the expected number of lessons each teacher creates each week
- We don’t expect you to sign the attendance form
- LinkIT V3 will continue to focus on the blended use of technology and active learning activities
- Some lessons will be provided without video supports
- Staff will be available to the learner in their home, not always immediately but in a mutually respectful way that aligns with our school values
- Family surveys will be regular
As always, we are here. Even though you are busier now than ever, it's really important to reach out, and ask a question if you need some more support during LinkIT.
I hope to see many of you during our Friday Principal Assembly at 2:00pm on Facebook.
Kind Regards,
Matthew Harris
