BEST Y7 - Toy Time PBL
During Term 2 our Year 7 BEST students completed their ‘Toy Time’ PBL. Students designed a toy to demonstrate their understanding of forces and simple machines. Students researched a range of toys to investigate their features and explore how they could be appropriate for a target audience. They created their own design for a toy and produced a manual to explain their concept and the simple machines and forces involved in the functioning of the toy. To showcase their work students had the opportunity to build a prototype for their toy and test some of their design features.

“During their study of Mixtures, Year 8 students investigated the importance of providing clean water and sanitation to all. They used three case studies and used their understand of waste water treatment to create a scientific article summarise the issue. They reflected on the learning through four lenses: Connections, Challenges, Concepts and Changes.”
