Co-curricular News

The Year 2020 has brought about many challenges and lessons for Staff and Students alike. It has been challenging to adapt to ever-changing protocols and restrictions around the operation of our co-curricular activities. There have also been some positive outcomes from being forced into a situation where we cannot simply rely on things operating as usual. One of these beneficial outcomes has been found in our Basketball program. This term we have entered an inter-school competition with St Stanislaus College in Bathurst, which has provided our boys a wonderful opportunity to develop their skills and challenge themselves against some highly skilled opponents.

Ordinarily, Stannies enter the ISA Basketball competition which involves travel to Sydney for their competition. This year, that competition is not running and we have utilised this opportunity for some local inter-school competition. It has been wonderful to see the two Schools playing with such great spirit and determination.

Our Touch Football, and Tennis competitions have resumed with local fixtures this term. Again, it is wonderful to see the students back playing inter-school competitive sport. There has been a wonderful sense of teamwork and healthy competition on display in these competitions, and our students have relished the opportunity to once again be competing against students from other schools.

Our rowing season has swung into action this term without the usual holiday rowing training camps. This has proven a little more challenging for our students learning to row on water for the first time, as this would normally take place during those camp sessions. However, the students have adapted well and with a few additional weekend sessions on the water they are all developing their skills well. It is wonderful to have Spring Creek once again brimming with water, allowing a much longer course and more satisfying rowing conditions for our students.
