Room 23

Last term, Room 23 went on an excursion to Cicerello’s in Fremantle. We watched an interactive marine presentation and got to hold many wonderful creatures including starfish and sea apples. We then went beachcombing and collected and sorted debris that had been washed ashore. After this, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Cicerello’s.

Room 24

On Friday 25th September 2020, the Year 3 parents were invited into Room 24 to see the great things we have been learning in Term 3. Most children had a parent come to see the classroom and their child’s work. The parents enjoyed seeing our fabulous work and also our new desks and dividing wall. This wall allows our work to be displayed in an organised way because we now have more space. The parents appreciated coming to our classroom and we loved showing them what we have learned about this term.

Room 25

Throughout Term 3 the students in Room 25 have been learning how to use Keynote and Pages on the iPad.

Keynote

Students have found out how to use the various tools in Keynote to change colours, reposition objects by flipping horizontally and vertically, as well as moving objects from front to back and vice versa. The students enjoyed choosing objects from the menus to drag onto a slide which they broke apart and then filled in using different colours. The challenge was selecting the different parts of an object to regroup the object back together.

Pages

We used Pages to select three unrelated objects to compose a short story about. Students could break apart the objects to change the colours before regrouping. The next step was quite noisy as everyone practised recording audio using their three objects to tell their short story. We realised we needed to be further apart from each other to do this successfully so we didn’t record each other’s audio. We had another go at recording audio and this time we made sure we were spread out to avoid interfering with each other’s audio recording.

Room 26

On Friday 25th September, parents attended Room 26’s open classroom. Students guided their parents around the classroom, as well as the Science and Music rooms, to show them what they had been learning about in Term 3. Parents enjoyed getting the chance to look around the school and the classroom and many were impressed with the quality of work their children have produced in Year 3. It was great to see so many parents come and enjoy the morning at Burrendah.

Room 28

In Term 3 we had the opportunity to show off our amazing learning to our parents with an open classroom.  The weather was being nice to us so our parents were able to enjoy the sunshine while looking through our books.  They also came into our room to look at the awesome work we have on display. We were able to take them to our specialist classrooms and show off all of the amazing things we have been doing in Music, Science, Italian, and Art.  They were so surprised and impressed with all of the work we have been doing.

We were then able to show off some of our iPad skills! Our parents have been looking through our iPad work on Seesaw at home and while they were at school we used the green screen to travel to the different parts of Australia that we have been learning about.  The Great Barrier Reef and Wave Rock were very popular places to ‘visit’ while at school. The reviews that we wrote on the iPads were a great way of sharing the fun we had with our parents.  We can’t wait to show off more of our skills in Term 4.
