Yale Young Global Scholars

The International Student Program is supporting Harry BUI to participate in the Yale Young Global Scholars. Here is Harry’s reflection on why he wants to take part in this program.

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is an academic enrichment program for outstanding high school students from around the world. Each summer, students from over 130 countries (including all 50 US states) participate in one interdisciplinary, two-week session at Yale’s historic campus. It is an opportunity to immerse yourself in a global learning community at Yale University. As we all know, Yale University is famous for its prestigious and excellent education systems so their summer school is an excellent opportunity for a high school student can get a taste of university life.

As a student who wants to apply to Ivy League, this summer school will give me a range of opportunities and increase my chances of getting into Yale University.

The Global Youth Advocacy Forum

One of our international students, Berry EAIN, has been involved in The Global Youth Advocacy Forum this year. Here is her reflection on why she chose to participate in this program and what she was able to gain from the experience.

The Global Youth Advocacy Forum is a great opportunity to hear other people's voices and gain more knowledge about Globalisation or education in particular. The reason I wanted to participate in this program is because of my passion for the students' voices; I believe that it is extremely important for our voices to be heard and be acknowledged because the future also depends on our generations. By joining this program not only will I be able to learn more about the education systems across the world, but also be able to take part in the journey to make a change that will make our society a better place.

Homestay Visits

How time flies! It's hard to believe we are halfway through Semester 2 already. Since the last term, I have been busy zoom-visiting our homestays.

It is lovely to see how our homestay providers and students are supporting each other during the lockdown. Our homestay families have been so thoughtful in helping the students transition back to onsite learning.

It is a strange and stressful time for many of us. Given the consideration and genuine care from our homestay providers, our students, despite being in another country and away from their families, are able to get through difficult times and keep up with their studies.

We are so proud!
