ADVENT
Advent is a time of joyful waiting. Each Sunday anticipation builds as we wait through the darkness of injustice for the dawning of right relationship. We are given a new view of our world and for life. Luke 1:46-55, Mary's Song, share the view of a world of justice and peace, with freedom for all. How wonderful would the world be if the God spoken about in Mary's Song was allowed to flourish in our society.
Advent falls at the end of the calendar year and at the beginning of the liturgical year. The timing suggests that we step back and reflect on the past, the present, and the future. Advent is about the coming of Jesus: He comes as the human baby of Bethlehem. He comes as King and Judge at the end of time. He comes into our lives right NOW!
CHRISTMAS
Christmas focuses on the mystery of the divine found within the human ~ GOD entering our everyday life! Because Jesus Christ was born into our world in a normal human way, all our ordinary human activities are made holy. Jesus Christ has entered our story and saved us from the darkness! Imagine if we were to live always as if walking in the light!
In praise and thanksgiving,
let us rejoice as we await our Saviour,
Christ the Lord,
God-with-us,
Prince of peace.
For all the oracles of the prophets foretold him;
the Virgin Mary longed for him with love beyond all telling;
John the Baptist sang of his coming
and proclaimed his presence when he came.
It is by his gift that we already rejoice at the mystery of his nativity,
so that he may find us watchful in prayer
and exultant in his praise.
Amen
