3/4 News

Book Week

Last week, we celebrated Book Week as a whole school.   In the 3/4 area we read a lot of Book Week chosen texts including; Nop, The Little Bird’s Day, Three and One Runaway Rabbit.

We played a fun board game with our friends which was based on the book, Three. When we rolled the dice we got to either go backwards or if we were lucky, a short cut. My group all played really well but we did have to restart the game lots of times”. -Harry

Snuggle Up & Read

During Snuggle Up & Read we read our book, grabbed a beanbag from the library, gathered our teddies and blankets and read in our cosy friendship groups. Meanwhile, some people were busy handing out hot chocolates and marshmallows to all of the students. I really enjoyed reading to myself while having all of my friends around me, and snuggling up together after being apart for so long. -Zara

Book Week Costumes

We were so excited to dress up as our favourite book characters for our Book Week dress-up day last Thursday. It was great to see so many students dress up from such a wide range of books, old and new. With the shops closed, people really showed their creativity and resourcefulness when creating their outfits.

Inquiry - Mars Bases and Mars Rovers

During remote learning and whilst being back at school, we have focussed on the ‘Where we are in place and time’ unit of inquiry. The students have learnt so much about space and the different technologies and the roles of scientists within this area.

"We were challenged to design and create a model Mars base and we needed to think about all of the things that a human would need to survive on this planet. We included a greenhouse so that we could grow crops and we can use poop for the fertiliser. Then the plants would grow and produce oxygen for us to breathe. We also included a laboratory which included 2 beds and some soft furnishings to make it look homely and cosy. The laboratory would be used to test rock samples and send this information back to Earth”.

Maths

"In Maths, we have been learning about time and practising reading minutes and hours. I think it’s really good because I have improved my skill in telling time. At the start of term, we learnt about angles and symmetry. I enjoyed making symmetrical shapes." -Antonino
