NAIDOC Week

This week throughout Australia NAIDOC week was celebrated.  The theme for 2020 is 'Always Was, Always will Be’.

Among the ways that the week was celebrated in the College was a lunchtime concert by Noongar duo, Boox Kid.

In the spirit of the 2020 theme, ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’ we had a raising of the Aboriginal flag, to honour and uphold the spiritual connection that the Whadjuk Noongars continue to have with the land on which our College is built.

ASX Sharemarket Game

Over the past 10 weeks students from Years 7 to 12 have been participating in the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) Schools Sharemarket Game. Players were given a virtual $50,000, buying and selling shares with company prices mirroring real live market prices. The game is a fantastic way to expose students to all the trials and tribulations of the market, fluctuations in share prices, market volatility as well as educating them in how to read financial news, share prices and what to look for in a company when investing.

Congratulations to the following students who ended the game with the highest valued portfolios:

  • 1st - Mia Rakich (Year 10) - $52,808
  • 2nd - Liam Johnson (Year 7) - $52,783
  • 3rd - George Griffiths (Year 7) - $52,708

Year 10 Media Production Excursion

Last Friday, Year 10 Media Production students travelled to Optus Stadium for a behind-the-scenes tour. The excursion focused particularly on the stadium’s extensive media facilities, including a close look at the state-of-the-art equipment housed in the Dennis Cometti Media Centre on Level 4 (which incorporates the main television and radio broadcast rooms) as well as the Coaches’ Rooms on Level 3. Perfect weather was the icing on the cake – a fun, valuable and inspirational experience for all in attendance!
