A day in the life of Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is clearly one of the greatest footballers to ever play the game, so what does he do on a daily basis to stay as one of the best players in the world?

Pre-Game

Cristiano Ronaldo’s pre-game routine is very particular, and he sticks to it every gameday. Firstly, Ronaldo must get enough sleep before a game. Cristiano Ronaldo says that proper sleep is especially important for training and being at the top of your game. Cristiano Ronaldo goes to bed early and wakes up early, and aims for 8 hours of sleep every night. Sleep helps his muscles to recover and fully energise before a big game.

Secondly, Cristiano Ronaldo likes to get a short gym workout in before training. This has become a habit for Cristiano, and mainly tries to do a short ab workout or leg workout when he gets out of bed. Cristiano Ronaldo says, “Fit in exercise wherever you can, if you get into a routine than it makes it easier, it will become a habit.”

Time for breakfast. Cristiano Ronaldo likes to eat small, balanced meals so that his good workouts must balance out with a good diet. Ronaldo’s meals must be high in protein and contain plenty of whole grain carbs, fruit and vegetables.

After this, Cristiano Ronaldo needs to get in the mood for the big game. He likes to psych himself up by looking at his reflection and pumping himself up with motivation. He prefers to listen to music while he stretches to warm up, rather than a quick warm-up on the pitch. Once this is all complete, it’s time for kick-off.

Post-Game

Once the match is over, the star athlete’s post-game rituals go just as planned. In an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, Cristiano Ronaldo said, “Recovery is more important to me than actual training sessions due to the large number of games I have to play”.

To kick off Ronaldo’s post-game routine, the footballer grabs a bite to eat. He prefers to eat pieces of fruit, a slice of pizza or other carb-based snacks.

Next, Cristiano Ronaldo heads straight home in order to take a 30-minute bath. This helps to stimulate his blood flow and avoid any bruising injuries.

Finally, Ronaldo goes for a 20-minute swim in the pool. This helps the superstar to clear his mind after the big match, and helps to go over the events of the past evening. In summary, Cristiano Ronaldo says that he tries to tackle the future one day at a time, and it’s clear to see by the way he plays.
