Sea of Thieves - Game Review

The ocean is a mysterious place, holding many secrets unbeknownst to us. The sea was where legends were made, only the bravest daring to venture across the world. One of the greatest mysteries of the sea is the Sea of Thieves, a world filled with ancient secrets and monstrous creatures. Whether you prefer to hunt other players for loot, or find it yourself, whether you want to have a peaceful journey, drinking grog and singing shanties, or you live for the thrill and want to defeat the legendary Kraken, Sea of Thieves has it all.

Sea of Thieves is an ever growing and changing, free roam pirate game. Allowing you to sail across a stunning new world riddled with danger and glory, you can discover the secrets of the Ancients and maybe find out what exactly the deadly Devils Shroud is. You can play with up to four friends, or you can create an alliance with other ships, all sharing the glory. Available for PC and Xbox, the game is cross play, allowing you to play with your friends on other devices. You can buy a map from the greedy Gold Hoarders to find treasure beyond your wildest dreams, or you can ask the Order of Souls of the location of a skeleton captain, killing them and selling their skull for money, and of course, for those more civil, you can embark on a merchant journey, selling cargo to every inch of the Sea of Thieves, and if you work hard enough, you may be invited to rise and become a famed pirate legend!

To me the game is one of the most fun and aesthetically beautiful games. I would recommend to play with friends, as that was the intent of Rare (the producers) when making this game, but it is completely playable on your own. Another thing that stands out to me about this game is the story. Almost every island has clues to who or what the Ancients, an old civilisation long gone know, were. I would highly recommend this game to a range of people, having aspects to appease everyone. My only warning is people who are scared of the ocean (like me) to be cautious, as this game can be terrifying, especially when there’s a megalodon in the water!
