ISO Devonshire Tea

Ingredients

 

Scones

3 cups of self-raising flour

Pinch salt

80g of chilled and cubed butter

1 1/4 cups of butter milk

 

Serve with - Whipped cream & jam

 

Tea

Tea leaves (2 teaspoons per person in a teapot)

Boiling water (1 cup per person)

Let sit for 4 mins before serving

 

Step 1

Preheat oven to 230 degrees

 

Step 2

Cut the butter into 2 centimetre cubes

 

Step 3

Measure 3 cups of self-raising flour and a pinch of salt and rub into the butter to make a bread crumb texture

 

Step 4

Add 1 1/4 cups of milk and mix to a dough - kneed your dough on the bench lightly

 

Step 5

Lightly dust your baking tray with plain flour

 

Step 6

Use a rolling pin to roll out your dough to 2 centimetres think.  Using a round cutter,  press through dough and place on a tray.  You should make 12 scones.

 

Step 7

Glaze scones with buttermilk and place your tray into the oven to cook for 20-25 minutes.
