Student Engagement Team (SET)

As a committed School Wide Positive Behaviour systems (SWPBS) school, the SET have continued to work towards our goals for the year, despite having a large period of time where students were working remotely. Each year, the team targets some areas of its action plan to strengthen and embed throughout the school, and then assesses how much progress it has made. Over the coming week, the SET, and then all staff, will be completing the Self-Assessment Survey (SAS) which is an internal self-assessment evaluation tool to assess our SWPBS practices. This year, the team have been particularly focused on developing booster sessions on the schools expected behaviours for teachers across the school to teach in their classrooms, as well as supporting the running of the PBS ticket draw as part of the house system. Even though it has been a challenging year working remotely for so much of Terms 2 & 3, the team believe they made progress. This is certainly evident in the amount of tickets being counted in the weekly ticket draw. The survey focuses on;

  • School wide systems
  • Non classroom systems
  • Classroom systems
  • Individual student systems

Why are we doing this survey?

  • Assists with Action Planning
  • Supports Internal Decision Making
  • School Validation – identifying priorities

This self assessment will help the team reflect on the progress it has made, and then set some more targets for 2021.

PBS Ticket Draw

As mentioned before, one of the highlights of the week for JSA is the weekly Positive Behaviour ticket count and draw. It is always a buzz to head into the CLH each Friday morning and help our House Captains and Vice Captains count the tickets earned by students over the course of the week. The fact that all houses have earned so many points this year is a fantastic achievement and shows that our students are demonstrating the JSA expected behaviours regularly and mindfully.

Thank you to our GREEN HOUSE Captains, Thomas and Joshua for hosting our draw. Great to see them so proud of the great efforts of all House Teams this week. Congratulations to all students who have earned a ticket the past fortnight, and particular congratulations to last weeks prize winners! If you missed the post on the JSA Facebook page, here are the winners again:
