Junior School Report

The Junior Sub School is a constant buzz again with a lot of events happening. We have welcomed back all our year 7 and 8 students who are so excited and thrilled to be back with their peers and teachers.  Term 4 is a busy time of the year and students have been working hard to get their best results and to complete assessments for reports. Staff will be completing progress reports soon for students. Coordinators will be in touch with parents if students need support.

FORUMS

Students will participate in Forums to reflect on their return to school this term and discuss ongoing support they receive from their teachers and coordinators

STUDENT REFLECTION ON RETURNING TO SCHOOL.

Our Year 7 and 8 students completed some reflections once they returned to school and described the Rose, Bud and Thorns of their online learning.

Year 7 students also completed a reflection piece to go into their time capsules once they complete Year 12 on their experience throughout COVID -19 remote Learning. Here is one of the reflection from a year 8 student.

“Going back to school was definitely exciting because now I was able to physically go out and see my friends and classmates. My teachers understood how transitioning from online school to actual school was going to be a bit harder to get used to. So they did many fun activities which included rewards while continuing our work leading to our assessments. They also respected each student’s situation during online school and made sure each individual was comfortable with coming back while completing work up to standard. Our teachers help and consideration towards their students definitely made us more excited to go to school everyday”

"Coming back to school from online learning, we were welcomed back with open arms from the teachers and peers. Coming back to school for term 4, everyone must be excited to come back after a long six months at home, learning from our devices. Having the ability to learn face to face again was a great feeling after being gone for so long, interacting with the teachers in class face to face also allows us, students, to have a better opportunity to learn and improve. The teachers have adapted their ways of teaching online, using powerpoints and sites such as stile to help us settle in with a new environment and a new way of learning."

"Returning to school after a long term of online school was challenging. It was difficult for me to transition because was I so used to online school. The teachers have been really supportive and helpful with our adaption back to school; Though I do miss leaving class early, eating different food every day, coming back to school was much better for my health and Seeing my teachers and friends in person was much better than online because they had taught me more."

THE BIG DAY IN

Our incoming 2021 Year 7 students will participate in a program in early December to familiarise themselves with our school prior to coming next year.

2021 PLANNING

Planning is taking place for the new school year in 2021. If your child will be moving schools next year could you please inform your child’s coordinator, in writing, as soon as possible.  If you are planning a holiday and your child will not return to school on the first school day of 2021 we also need these details.

HOT WEATHER

With warmer weather approaching, students are reminded that only water bottles are permitted in classrooms. Students will not be allowed to leave class to get drinks from the taps.

If you have concerns about your child’s progress, please contact the relevant Coordinator and if your child is going on vacation prior to the end of the year the coordinator must be informed. Please call the coordinators if you have any questions.
