Deakin Young Influencer Award 2020

We would like to congratulate May Nguyen on being chosen as the recipient of the 2020 Deakin Young Influencer Award. This award is open to all Year 11 students. The Award details and entry criteria were posted to Compass mid-July and the applications closed on 17th August. May Nguyen of 11D was chosen as St Albans Secondary College’s winner, which is an incredible achievement.
The Deakin Young Influencer Award recognises excellence and celebrates students who are truly motivated to making a positive difference in the world - now and into the future. Deakin believes strongly in acknowledging outstanding students, who stand for the same values that they do. Deakin would like to reward May’s efforts and achievements with a $5000 scholarship to support their first year of study at Deakin.
May’s commitment to doing all she can to help the school and local community is inspiring. She has volunteered her time to numerous charitable causes including activities for the school’s Interact Club, which involved fundraisers, food drives and the mentorship program. May’s completion of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (Bronze level) is an outstanding achievement and one that has provided her with an array of skills for future life and work. May shares Deakin’s value of community leadership as evident in her experience as the president of Rotary’s Interact Club. She has used this value to make outstanding contributions to the community through various events, which have raised crucial awareness, and much needed funds. May’s willingness to go above and beyond in everything she does is admirable and she will continue to achieve all that she aspires to do.
Congratulations May.
