Kindergarten News

Wow! Week 8 already! What a fun and busy time we have had in Kindergarten over the last couple of weeks. Only 2 and a half weeks to go now, we are all very excited that Christmas is fast approaching!

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

A couple of weeks ago we spent the day at Thalgarrrah with Matt. So much fun was had by everyone. The favourite part of the day was when all our teddy bears went missing and we had to go on a hunt in the bush to find them. When we got to the end, we found them all set-up with our lunch boxes for a picnic!

Pre-School Reading

This is the last week of our Pre-School buddy reading.  A huge thank you to Milestones pre-school kids and their educators for coming over to read with us this term!  We have thoroughly enjoyed this experience!

MAPPEN

We have started creating our puppets and puppet theatres for MAPPEN. Finishing touches will go into these tomorrow and we will begin to perform. We have created so many amazing things! The teachers were blown away with what we have created and can’t wait to see the end product.

Thank you

A huge thank you to all our families who sent in boxes, paper towel rolls, etc. for our MAPPEN unit we had so many families who brought things in for us to use that we have been using the extra for play-based learning using our imagination and creativity to create more amazing and wonderful things!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Library and Technology News

Wow what a year!  The kids have learnt sooo many new technology-based skills from robotics, coding, Virtual Reality, movie making, to name just a few.

Over the past couple of weeks all Stage 1, 2 and 3 students have been busy creating their own Fantasy theme movie using iMovie – Stage 1 and 2.  Stage 3 have been experimenting with making their movies using 360-degree cameras which they then transfer and edit in WeVideo.

Stage 3 Movie Making

Kindergarden are the tech experts and I have been blown away at how quickly they pick up new technology skills. This week all the Kinder students created their own Google Jamboard about their favourite animals!  Next week we are going to learn how to share our Jam Boards with the rest of our class!

A reminder that the students will no longer be borrowing as we start gathering up, returning and Stock Take all our books ready for 2023. All library books need to be returned by the end of this week.  If you are unable to find a book don’t panic, I can almost guarantee that it will turn up during Stock Take in weeks 9 and 10!

That’s a wrap, Mrs Dunham.

PAX GBG information: Some of the strategies which we use each day in our classes.

PAX Leaders: Not only does the teacher identify leaders but children are identifying themselves and identifying others. It promotes co-regulation which means everybody is working together. It reduces conflict and negative emotions.

PAX Vision: Is created by the class and their teacher to set expectations for the classroom and school. What do we want to see more of and what do we want to see less of in our class and school?

The vision is used throughout the day and throughout activities to remind children of just how we are going to operate in the classroom.

PAX quiet:  Using the harmonica to bring a quietness to the classroom. Once the teacher plays the harmonica, the children just put their fingers up for peace and it’s great to see all children stop and know exactly what to do. PAX Quiet is about creating a nurturing environment.
