From the Principal's Desk

Three weeks to go until we finish school and lots of learning to do between now and then!

  • On Monday, Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall joined the Martin’s Gully Public School community to throw the first basket and officially open the new $150,000 synthetic grass multi-sport court. Mr Marshall said he was delighted to open the court, which was a vast improvement on the old cracked concrete tennis version it replaced. “It’s been a goal of the school community for many years to replace the old and almost unusable concrete surface with a modern synthetic grassed court which can be enjoyed by students playing multiple sports,” Mr Marshall said. Mr Marshall praised the school and the school’s P&C Association for turning a dream into reality. “This has been a whole of school community effort, with the school, P&C Association, Department of Education and State Government all contributing funds to make this possible,” Mr Marshall said.

  • All staff have been busy writing reports, preparing for the end of year, and also planning for 2023.  It is wonderful to work alongside teachers and staff who have integrity, courage and compassion which is fundamental to create and sustain the positive classrooms here at Martins’ Gully where learning can flourish.
  • Last week during Library and digital technology time with Mrs Dunham, Kindergarten logged onto their individual laptops to access their own Google Jamboards.  What is a Jamboard? (many of you are thinking) A Jamboard is a digital whiteboard that lets you collaborate in real time. It sparks students to learn, collaborate, and engage in active new ways. What a talented group of learners we have!

  • Students in years 5 and 6,have participated in a program run by Creating Chances called  Springboard this term. The program focuses on creating resilient and positive learners prepared for their transition to high school. Thank you to Ben and Emily for running such a great program for our students.

  • Choir: At last weeks assembly the K-2 choir, and senior choir performed ably led by Ruthie Clendinning and supported by Rhianna Landow and our class teachers. They sang beautifully and should be proud of the effort they have put into choir this year. A huge thank you to Ruthie Clendinning who has volunteered this year to lead and support our choir.

  • Just a quick reminder that students should not arrive at school before 8:15am.  We love that our children are eager to come to school, however playground supervision does not begin till 8:30am.

Attendance Matters:

We have set our school a target to achieve 90% attendance 90% of the time for the remainder of 2022 and continuing in 2023.

Have a lovely week!
