COVID UPDATE

At the end of 2022, National Cabinet announced that people who test positive to COVID-19 do not need to isolate. In line with this announcement, schools will continue to follow guidance issued by NSW Health to support the safety and wellbeing of our school communities. Note for Staff and students with COVID-19 symptoms. If a student or staff member is unwell and has any symptoms they should always test for COVID-19 and not attend school until they are symptom-free. Note for Positive COVID-19 cases. If a student or staff member receives a positive result with a RAT or PCR test they should:

  • Record the positive result through the Services NSW website or app
  • Notify the school of the positive results as soon as possible

St Joseph's School will inform the school community of positive cases in the school as the need arises.

PUPIL FREE DAY

For forward planning, the school will have a Pupil Free Day on Monday 27th February. The school will be closed this day and no supervision will be provided. Thank you.

SMEATONS

Smeaton's Bakery supply the school with a lunch service on Tuesday and Friday each week. A copy of the menu is at the end of the newsletter or alternatively you can order online at www.smeatonsbakery.au

Please be advised that Smeaton's are no longer able to offer Sushi on the menu. Sorry for any inconvenience.

BOOK CLUB

The students are given the chance to order books and items from Scholastic Book Club throughout the year. There are 8 issues per year. Book club coordinator is Bec Willis. If your child wishes to place an order, please fill in the order form and send in an envelope with correct money to your class teacher. Orders are then processed and when the items return to the school they are distributed to your child to take home. Alternatively you can order online with LOOP. Please follow the instructions for Loop that are on the order form. If the items are for gifts it is recommended that you put your name and contact number on the top of the order and you will be rung to collect them. As Scholastic gives the school a best before date to place our orders we ask that the orders be returned to school by the due date noted in the newsletter. We cannot accept late orders. If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Issue 1 catalogues will be available to the students from their teacher next Monday and orders will be due back at school by FRIDAY 17th FEBRUARY.

THANK YOU

Thanks for sending your child/children to school ready for the year in their correct uniform. Please remember to ensure that all items especially the lunch boxes and uniforms are labelled.  A thank you also to the staff who ensured that the start of the year was a pleasant and enjoyable start for your child/ren.

RIDING OF BICYCLES

Riding of bikes to school is another means of transportation. The RTA recommends that children under 10 should not be riding unsupervised. All children riding bikes must wear an approved safety helmet.

MESSAGES TO STUDENTS

There are times when different arrangements are made and your child needs to be advised. To ensure that messages are received by the children please ring before lunch. There are times especially on sports days where it is difficult to locate a child before the bell goes. Staff collect messages for their class at lunch time. We appreciate your assistance in this matter.
