Week 8

Kindergarten

The Christmas celebrations have begun in Kindergarten this week with Miss Fraser and Miss Maunder wearing their reindeer antlers. We have been reading the storybook Pig The Elf and have been practising our literary recount skills. A special visitor, Elf on the Shelf has arrived from the North Pole to watch Kindergarten do their amazing work. He has helped us make some reindeer biscuits as we begin our learning about procedures.

In Mathematics, we have been learning about the coins and notes in our monetary system. We have become familiar with cents and dollars and will be putting this into practice through our play shop.

Stage 1

This week, Stage 1 started their procedure writing with some ‘bee’-utiful craft. Stage 1 students are often keeping an eye on the flowers in the playground to ensure the bees can get pollen. They made an egg carton bee, and then had to act like a teacher to write the steps to make it correctly, in case anyone else wanted to make one themselves. What clever little worker bees you are Stage 1. Miss Myers and Miss Summerell.

 Stage 2

This week in Stage 2, we have been learning how to write a procedure. We accomplished this by first of all creating a paper reindeer bauble. The students had to list the materials and equipment used and then write a series of steps clearly explaining how to make the craft. Well Done Stage 2. Miss McDonald and Mr Beaumont.

Stage 3

What better way to start the Christmas season than with craft? Years 5 and 6 have been learning how to read and write procedures and incorporated our writing with our creative art skills. Firstly, students had to pick a Christmas craft for their peers to complete. We had a range of activities, from salt clay ornaments, toilet paper roll reindeers to cute owl ornaments. The students had a lot of fun writing these procedures and completing these fun craft activities. Great work Stage 3!
