Message from the Principal

Mrs Bronwyn Underwood

Dear Parents and Carers,

Today, our Year 5 students presented their speeches to the school, outlining their personal attributes and qualities, that make them suitable to be a school leader in 2023. Each child presented a well thought out speech and delivered it with confidence. Students in our Primary grades then cast their vote for our next school leaders. Next week the children will vote for the sport captains of our sporting team houses - McKillop and Penola. Good luck and congratulations to all our Year 5 students - Riley Butcher, Ryan Elliot, Nicholas Gallagher, Eli Handsaker, Ruby Kenafick, Samuel Marshman, Connor Mitchell, Sarah Northey and Braxton Tyrna. Results of the voting will be known next week.

Today was the last transition day for our 2023 Kindergarten students. It was wonderful to have the children in for one last session before commencing their formal schooling in 2023. Thanks to Anna Fraser, Emily Maunder and Amanda McNair for making our transition program such a success.

Staff are busy preparing the students for our end of year activities. The next two weeks are particularly busy. Monday December 5, we will be joining students from Manilla Central School and the wider community, at the Central School commencing at 5.30 with a BBQ for a 6.00 start for the community Christmas Carols.  All students who are attending are required to wear their Summer Uniform with appropriate christmas decorations, such as tinsel hair ties or christmas earrings. St Michael's will host the Carols in 2023.

Thursday December 8 is our last day for Playgroup for 2022. The Playgroup Christmas Party will be held from 9.15 - 10.15. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Friday December 9 will be our end of year Mass commencing at 9.30 a.m. in the Church. Everyone is very welcome to attend. There will be a morning tea for parents, carers and parishioners at the school after Mass. 2023 staffing and known Term 1 dates will be published in the Newsletter on December 9. Semester 2 Reports will be issued on this day as well.

Wednesday December 14 is our Year 6 Graduation Mass and Farewell Dinner. The Mass will commence at 6.00 p.m. in St Michael's Church and then onto the Golf Club for dinner. This date is also the day for the Year 6 fun day. Thanks to Isabella Rasche for coordinating this important time of year for our senior students.

Thursday December 15 is the school's Awards' Assembly commencing at 10.00 a.m at the school. Every class will be presenting a concert item, in conjunction with the Awards' Assembly. After the assembly is finished, we will walk to the pool for lunch and a swim. Class teachers will advise of each class item and what your child will need (if anything). Children are required to wear their Summer Uniform on this day and bring their swimmers, towel etc for the pool. This day is the last official day for our Year 6 students.

Friday December 16 is the last school day for the students for 2022.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend.
