In Memoriam

Vale George Gibb

It was with incredible sadness that we heard of George's passing earlier this year.  George was a student at Kalinda Primary School, graduating in 2019.

Despite the physical challenges George faced on a daily basis, he was one of the most incredible people you could ever meet. Incredibly intelligent, passionate about his interests (anime, manga, the Marvel Universe and animals), full of kindness, and with a wicked sense of humour.

George enriched the lives of his classmates, the staff who worked with him, and our entire Kalinda community. His bravery was an inspirational example to everyone, and reminds us to make the most of every single day, no matter the obstacles.

A large group of our staff attended a memorial service for George at Karralyka last week. It was the biggest funeral most of us would have ever been to, the large room was overflowing with people. This was testament to the number of people's lives George had touched and uplifted.

Our thoughts go out to his family, his two older brothers Anderson and William who attended Kalinda, and his amazing mother and father.

George, you will be missed so much, but we will never forget you.

Vale Bryan Bennett

We were very sad to hear of the passing of Bryan Bennett. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Bryan made an incredible contribution to Kalinda Primary School for well over a decade. His granddaughter attended Kalinda and he got involved in all aspects of our school.

This included working bees, canteen duty, sausage sizzles, fetes, walkathons, graduation books, and school discos. He was also a member of the School Council (as the treasurer for many years), the Parents and Friends Association, and the Facilities and Resources Committee. He also organised and supported student participation in Tournament of the Minds.

Our senior intra-school sports competition was named after Bryan, the Bennett Shield is something our students compete for each year.

The contribution that Bryan made helped build the school we have today and we are so thankful for that. Volunteers are so important to schools and Bryan was the most amazing example of this.

Rest in Peace.
