Thank you

I know that you, like me, are probably feeling a little shell-shocked that it is already the end of the year. We started 2022 with quite a heady combination of trepidation and optimism after two years of such disruption and it has been so wonderful to enjoy the normality of a return to regular school, camps, excursions, and other wonderful traditions. It certainly means that most of us are feeling pretty tired though. I was listening to a podcast the other day that described this summer break as an opportunity to really air out and cleanse the brain and I intend on giving mine a really good spin cycle and refresh with lots of books, camping, time outdoors and maybe a high stakes MarioKart challenge or two with my family! Thank you to the many members of our community who this year have made me laugh, challenge myself, reflect and aspire to be the best I can be.

Holiday works

There are many exciting things happening at Kalinda over the holidays so please note that access to our grounds may be disrupted to allow these to proceed safely.

3rd January: Tree audit

9th January onwards: Basketball court resurfacing (courts will be closed)

9th-11th January: Tree works (related to Basketball court work)

12th January: Module door repairs

Holiday cleaning: 9th-19th January

11th January onwards: Library works (painting, window replacement)

18th January: playground repairs, 5/6 playground

19th-26th January: Stadium court resurfacing and curing

Ongoing: Water damage remediation in Room 17/18 and Module A

If you visit our school grounds to have a play or bike ride, please do so safely.

Please note that the first official day for Kalinda Staff to be back at work is Friday 27th January.

Kalinda Giving Tree and Stocking drive

We were thrilled to amass a very generous collection of toys, books and clothes that were collected by the team at the Uniting Gifts for Families drive. Thank you to all students and families who were able to make a donation of gifts. I know many students really enjoyed the process of choosing something that they thought another child would really love.

Congratulations to Charlye (5L) and Mum Melynda who this year beat their record in collecting 223 Christmas Stockings to be gifted to vulnerable children. We are inspired by your family's dedication to helping others Charlye and Melynda, thank you for bringing us on your journey and thank you to those families who were able to donate a stocking.

I wish you and your family a safe and joyous holiday season. Take care Kalinda,  you mean a lot to me.
