Over the weekend, my Dad and I spent some quality time together doing something we both love- watching sport! First, we watched our women’s Strikers cricket team win the Grand Final, followed by Australia and their win over Tunisia in the World Cup. My Dad and I found ourselves swept up in the excitement and celebrations, even though we weren’t physically in the same place.
Feeling excited and a sense of celebration is often how some people feel in the lead up to Christmas and for others it can bring other hard to have feelings. As we near Christmas and reflect on Jesus’ birth, I pause and wonder how Mary and Joseph were feeling when there was no place but a stable for them to bring our King into the world; possibly some fear or concern mixed with excitement and anticipation for they were the chosen ones.
My prayer for you as we remember the birth of Jesus is from Isaiah 9:6 for to us a child is born, to us a son is given… He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince Peace.
