eSmart
Levels 2 & 4 eSmart Update
Being eSmart - smart, safe & responsible, is something we model each day. We also at regular intervals throughout the year teach explicit lessons. The Year 1 students have participated in a lesson called Follow the Digital Trail. Students learn that the information they put online leaves a digital footprint or “trail”.
This trail can be big or small, helpful or hurtful, depending on how they manage it.
By following the “trail” of two fictional characters, students can reflect on the amount of information available and whether it is safe or not.
The Year 2 students will participate in a lesson that investigates what kind of information they should keep private when going online. Students will learn that many websites ask for information that is private and will discuss how to handle such requests in an eSmart way.
Please read the attached Family Tip Sheet for further information.
The Level 4 students will be participating in an eSmart lesson during Week 10. The Year 5 students will investigate clickbait and how to avoid it in a lesson called "You Won't Believe This!".
The Year 6 students will investigate cyberbullying in order to develop an understanding of the associated behaviours and impact on others. The activities provide practical strategies to assist young people to deal with cyberbullying behaviour and where to seek support.
This video looks at several different different experiences of cyberbullying and what you can do if your child is being cyberbullied.

Save the Date
We are fortunate to have a guest speaker from ySafe - social media and cyber safety experts coming out to the school in 2023. There will be a parent evening on March 2nd at 7pm - add it to your calendar. This will be a live event at the school and we look forward to having as many parents as possible attend.
