From The Principals

Important updates from Mrs Mann, Mrs Cook & Mrs Strachan

Hello Vermont Primary School and Kinder families! Can you believe that this is the second last newsletter for the year? We have certainly been busy the last few weeks with a range of activities and events happening across the school. This week, the whole school and kindergarten had a practice off-site evacuation drill to the Vermont Oval. This highlighted the respect, attentiveness and responsiveness of students and staff as close to 1000 people calmly made their way through the school in a matter of minutes.

We remind the school community that next Wednesday 7th of December is a student free day. Teachers and support staff will be working hard on planning programs for learning in 2023.

As we head into the last few weeks of the year, we are reminding everyone to be mindful of how busy things can get for people, and to exercise some extra patience and kindness.

Parent Helpers Morning Tea

On Thursday the 1st of December, we welcomed all those people who have volunteered their time to help out around our school throughout the year. Support from parents is critical in school events running smoothly, and if Covid taught us anything, it's that schools are the backbone of many families and communities. We were thrilled to be able to share our appreciation and gratitude for the many people who have helped with events such as excursions, camps, dress-up days, special lunch days, classroom reading, school council membership, library volunteering, sports galas and swimming but to name a few. We are so thankful for the important role parents and volunteers play in our school, and are looking forward to inviting our school community to be involved in even more events in the coming months and years.

2023 Foundation Transition sessions

This morning we welcomed our 2023 Foundation students for their final transition session, and to meet their teachers. The children (and parents) were excited to be part of the day, and we are so looking forward to our Foundation students joining our wonderful school community.

Fundraising update

Thank you to the school community for supporting our Christmas Tarts and Cakes Fundraiser. We achieved just over $2000 of sales, resulting in Baker’s Delight Brentford Square donating $500 back to VPS. Your goods will be sent home with your student on Thursday 8 December.  A fantastic effort!

THE NEXT TWO WEEKS...

5th December: Disco

Don't forget the annual Graduation Disco that is on Monday 5th of December in the stadium during lunchtime. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation and encouraged to wear free dress on that day, which will go towards subsidising the costs of the Year 6 Graduation.  There will be prizes for students who would like to show us their dancing skills!

6th December: Moving Day

You may have heard your children speaking of Moving Day. On Tuesday the 6th of December, some of the classrooms will be moving to a different location in the school to prepare for 2023. it will be located where their current teacher will be teaching in 2023. If your child does move on this day, your child's teacher will show them their new line up area so that you know where you need to pick them up from.

This will help their transition as they will learn routines and events that they will experience next year.  it is quite important that they attend this day so that they are prepared for next year. New students who have enrolled in the school in Years 1 - 6 have also been invited to attend.
