Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser

On Sunday May 22nd our school has been fortunate to have been given a day by Epsom Bunnings to host the BBQ. This event will provide our school, and in turn, our students with some valuable funds to further enhance the educational opportunities we can provide to our students. Any funds raised will be directly spent on the students.

We would love some of our parents to volunteer some of their time on the Sunday to come along and help us cook, serve and sell the sausages and drinks. If you are able to help out for an hour or two between 10am and 4pm on this day please contact Lisa or Bree so we can formulate a roster.

Understandably, Bunnings do not allow children to be in the BBQ service area, so this means they can not attend with you if you are helping out and other arrangements for supervision need to be made for public liability and safety purposes.

If you are unable to help out but still want to support our school, come along and buy a sausage or two or you could offer to help us out with the picking up of supplies.

This is our main fundraising event for the year, so it would be awesome to have family support.

New Website

EXCITING NEWS.....  we have just launched our new look school website. This site is more interactive than the previous site and has plenty of information about our school and what is happening. We will be regularly updating and refreshing the content on the front page and this will also include details of upcoming events. There are lots of tabs that include all the information that our current and perspective families might need to know. We would love your feedback on this new look site , once you have had a look around.

To find our site go to www.raywoodps.vic.edu.au or just Google Raywood Primary School.

COVID Updated Information

RAT tests (quite possibly the last round) were sent home this week with students. Please remember to be vigilant and to monitor those in your family for symptoms. A reminder that any child that is ill should not attend school (Covid or non-Covid related).

Please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns related to this matter.

NAPLAN

Our Year 5 students will have commenced their NAPLAN testing and will continue this week and next. I am proud of the way they have approached this testing regimen and I feel confident that they are giving their very best efforts to demonstrate their knowledge in English and Mathematics. It is important for us all to note, that these tests are not the only way that we at Raywood assess learning and achievement, we know that students learn in a variety of ways, at varying rates and need to be able to demonstrate this learning in a range of situations. No matter what the results, we are proud of our students and know that they have so many outstanding qualities academic, artistic, physical, social and emotional.

Student Lunches for Term 2 and 3

Our pie warmer is underway, allowing students to bring along food to be heated up in time for lunch. Just a few reminders:

- food needs to be thawed if possible

- food should not be raw- the pie warmer does not cook the food, merely heats it up

- food should be wrapped in foil or placed in a foil container with a lid

- food should be clearly named

- the pie warmer operates every school day from May- September unless otherwise advised, we don't expect that students will have a hot lunch everyday, but it allows for families to select a day or days that suit them

Mother's Day Stall

Our students had a lovely time selecting gifts for their mum last week. These gifts were selected with much deliberation and lovingly wrapped by the students. We hope that all the mums, mums to be, grandmas and mother figures had a special day last Sunday.

School Council

A reminder to our councillors that our next meeting will be held on May 16th here at the school. We will commence at 5.30pm. Please let Lisa or Bree know if you are unable to attend and note that if it makes it easier for you, you are most welcome to bring along your children or attend virtually.

Year 5/6 Cluster Camp

On Tuesday an Expression Of Interest was sent home with each of our Year 5 & 6 students regarding this year's proposed camp to Anglesea. It is vital this notice be read, signed and returned as soon as you are able. Our school is not the organising school, so it is important that we have the names and numbers attending to the organising school by mid June. If you have misplaced your notice or have any questions, please contact Lisa.

Year 3/4 Cluster Camp

This is will take place in August, we are still awaiting some final details about this camp as we are not the organising school. Once I have information, I will forward it to the relevant families.

Don't forget to follow us on our Raywood Primary School Facebook page.

Thank you everyone, Lisa Duffy

CAMPS SPORTS AND EXCURSIONS FUND

Families holding a valid means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply. A Special Consideration category also exists. Schools can receive applications from families over terms one and two.

Families can list more than one student in the one application form if they are attending the same school.

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) provides payments for eligible students to attend activities like:

  • school camps or trips
  • swimming and school-organised sports programs
  • outdoor education programs
  • excursions and incursions.

The CSEF payment cannot be used towards books, stationery, school uniforms. Schools will need permission before allocating CSEF funds and a credit note will stay on the family account until the family advises the school how they want the funds allocated.

Applications can be entered from 31 January 2022. Parents/carers wishing to apply for CSEF payments for 2022 must submit their application form to the school by 24 June 2022.

However, a parent/career will only be required to submit an application form to the school in the following circumstances:

  • the parent/career is applying for the CSEF payment for the first time – i.e. an application form was not lodged with the school in the previous year; or
  • circumstances have changed – e.g. there has been a change in the care arrangement of the student, a change of name or CRN, or a new sibling has commenced at the school and the parent/career wishes to apply for the CSEF payment for the new sibling.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              If you require a CSEF form please contact Bree at school. ASAP please i need to get these submitted and would hate for anyone to miss out.

Bunnings BBQ

As Lisa mentioned above, Raywood Primary School has secured a date to run a sausage sizzle fundraiser on the 22nd  of May 2022. This will be held at Epson Bunnings from 8am to 4pm. We require a Minimum of 4 Volunteers to run the fundraiser. The more volunteers we obtain the less time everyone will have to be on duty for, a roster will be made up when we are aware of volunteer numbers.

Sign in Sign out Book

Just a reminder to all that if you are collecting your children early or dropping them of late. We require you to visit the office and sign the late arrival and early departure folder.

Thank you , Bree Blake
