Whole School Pastoral Support Plan:

Our Pastoral team has been developing a Whole School Pastoral Support Plan that outlines staff responsibilities and processes within our school community to promote an effective approach to developing and maintaining positive student behaviour. The purpose of this plan is to facilitate high levels of student engagement across the school, ensuring that successful learning outcomes are maximised and that our students are enabled to fully participate and experience success. I invite families to peruse the document which is available on our website: St Mary's Whole School Pastoral Support Plan

Uniform and Personal Grooming:

At the commencement of the school year we shared reminders regarding our St Mary’s uniform and personal grooming expectations. Students have responded positively on the whole and are maintaining these high expectations. It is important, however, that students are mindful that these requirements are to be adhered to both during school and out in the broader community as well.

Lunchtime Detentions:

Last term the Pastoral Team implemented Lunchtime detentions to address Tier 1 behaviours. Examples of these behaviours include incomplete homework, arriving late to class, and uniform and personal grooming infringements. These are held daily during first break for 15 minutes and are supervised by Heads of Year. During the detentions, students complete a reflection and goal setting activity. Parents will be notified (via email) if three detentions have been received in a term. A forth lunch detention will result in an After School Detention. Finally, it is important to note all students will have a fresh start at the commencement of each term. We are pleased to see students are using the reflection time well and repeated referrals are reducing.

Sincerely,
