Years 8 & 9 News

Term 1 for Years 8 and 9 students

Thank you students, parents and teachers of Years 8 and 9 for a very successful start to the 2022 school year.  Although I think we are all feeling a bit tired as the term draws to an end, it has been wonderful to watch students have an uninterrupted term with all of our usual activities reinstated.  We have enjoyed watching students participating in sport, music, production rehearsals, the swimming carnival, camps and excursions.  Our assemblies have been entertaining and students in the audience have demonstrated their best behaviour.

I wish all of you a very restful and enjoyable school holiday.

Morrisby Test (Year 9)

All Year 9 students are to complete the Morrisby Online Assessment.

Please see COMPASS News Feed to instructions.

Year 9 Students will be doing the Morrisby Test at home in their own time. It is a personal online discovery tool to help students identify their strengths, talents and interests and suggested subjects, pathways and careers. The Department of Education and Training (DET) requires all Year 9 students to complete this test.

A follow-up interview in Term 2 with a Careers Counsellor will help each student reflect on the results of the test and help students with the future Senior School subject selections.

Junior School Students Legend Awards

The Junior School Students Legend awards have seen numerous students in Year 8 recognised for their contribution to the school and the way in which they uphold the school values.  Students and their parents are notified of their nominations and each week one nominated students wins a canteen voucher.  We are looking forward to many more nominations.

Bikes and Helmets

We would like to encourage the parents of our bile riders to have a discussion with their children about safety on bikes.  Before school and after school are exceptionally busy times on the roads around the school and it is essential that student follow all of the road rules on their bikes, especially the requirement to wear a helmet.  We promote this at school but would really appreciate additional follow up at home.

Year 9 Upcoming Events

  • The Wellbeing Team has arranged for our Year 9 and 10 students to be involved in a Proactive Policing Incursion facilitated by Matt Goodwright (Senior Constable at Somerville Proactive Policing Unit) Wednesday 6 April (Periods 5 or 6).  The themes that will be addressed in the presentation include: bullying, harassment, and cyber bullying, sexting, legal framework and consequences, party safe and consent.
