Principal's Message

“Love of learning is the most necessary passion . . . in it lies our happiness.

It's a sure remedy for what ails us, an unending source of pleasure.”

Émilie du Châtelet

Dear Parents and Guardians

When last I communicated with you, I was flying off to the United States to see my children, whom I had not seen for 30 months because of the Covid-19 restrictions. I now find myself writing to you having flown back in this morning. During my absence, I have been blessed to witness my son’s graduation from Florida State University with his Master of Science, and to spend time with my daughter and son-in-law in Los Angeles. These are special moments and I thank you for your patience in my absence.

As I write this, I extend my most heartfelt appreciation for all mothers on this Mother’s Day. It is always wonderful to have time to reflect on the value we place on, and appreciation we hold for, those significant people in our lives at various times of the year. As a Brigidine Community, we hope your day is special.

To all, welcome back from the Easter Break. I hope you had opportunity to spend time together as families, and also that you were able to value the special nature of shared memories together. Easter is our most sacred of periods in the Church calendar and it is very easy to lose sight of the hope that the Risen Christ provides for us all. It is a most beautiful time for our faith, and I hope it was also for your family.

I also hope your participation in the parent teacher interviews for Stage 4 and Stage 6 was valuable. I will connect with staff on Monday to understand how this went, but I trust you found it rewarding and informative. I hope the same reward will be experienced by Stage 5 parents at their upcoming parent teacher interviews on Tuesday.

In closing, I wish all a wonderful Term 2 and hope the College continues to grow in the spirit of St Brigid. Thank you again for your involvement in your daughter’s learning experience and being part of this beautiful faith-driven community.

God bless.
