Harmony Day

Girton Grammar  Senior School celebrated Harmony Week with a number of fantastic activities running throughout the week. Harmony Day is celebrated each year on the 21st of March. GCAG (Girton Community Action Group), together with the Diversity and Inclusion Prefects and 65 Wattle, celebrated Harmony Day by running a cupcake stall and a friendship bracelet making station. With multicultural music playing in the background this was a real celebration of the diverse and colourful community that we live in. On the Thursday of Harmony Week, a game of Musical Bingo was hosted asking students to identify songs from different countries, cultures and languages.

Harmony Day was first held in 1999 to celebrate cultural diversity and unity. It was originally an Australian celebration but is now celebrated worldwide.

The Harmony Day cupcakes donated by GCAG members were a great hit! They were decorated with orange icing and flags from around the world, representing the cultural diversity of Australia. Over $250 was raised and will be donated to Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services to support refugees settling in our region.
