Pub Sold!

The Golden Gate Hotel building on the corner of Vine and High Streets, purchased in 1995 to provide Girton boarders with a kitchen and meals area has been sold. 

The heritage-listed building has served a range of functions within the school for many years, most recently housing Technology classes, which have been relocated onto the Senior School campus on the ground floor of the Performing Arts building, alleviating the need for students to cross a major road to attend class.

When boarding ceased at Girton in 2008, what had been the kitchen and meals area for students became four general-purpose learning areas and later, the home of Language classes. Technology students have used “the Pub” since 2014.

We look forward to seeing what becomes of the pub as it passes into new ownership.
