General Information

Positive Behaviour for Learning

Promoting Positive Behaviour for Learning.

As a PBL school LIHS rewards students who are respectful, responsible and safe in every setting.

Our school values:

RESPECT ⎜RESPONSIBILITY ⎜SAFETY

Semester One saw a strong focus on our PBL Values of Respect, Responsibility and Safety.

We show RESPECT by being tolerant and accepting everyone, being polite and considerate of others. Using appropriate language and wearing school uniform.

We show RESPONSIBILITY by being at the right place, right time. Staying on task in class and being prepared. Following procedures and instructions including putting rubbish in the bin and caring for our surroundings.

We show SAFETY by following instructions. Following a 'hands off' policy and having a smoke free zone.

Weekly PBL Focus Values throughout Term 2 will continue to remain a high priority in all settings. Each focus value will be highlighted over a two weeks. Specific PBL lessons will also continue to occur so as to encourage active learning in classrooms around the school.

EVERY DAY.  ON TIME.

The start of a new school term is a great time to get on the right foot when it comes to school attendance. Being on time every day, limiting days away and bringing a note if you are away will be rewarded within our PBL Vivo scheme.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

Uniform

Lake Illawarra High School is a proud uniform wearing school. This is in accordance with the Department of Education policy and the collaboration of the whole school community, that is, students, parents and families (represented by the P & C) and staff. We have made a strong start this term regarding uniform, with the majority of students coming to school in full school uniform and following correct processes. The compliance with uniform has been commendable.

Wearing school uniform presents a positive public image of our school to the community. School uniform also fosters a safer school environment by enabling students to be easily identified. All students are expected to wear full school uniform every day. LIHS uniforms may be purchased at Lowes located within Shellharbour Square. Sport shirts and parkas are available from the school canteen between 8:00am - 2:00pm Monday - Friday during school terms. If you are having having difficulty purchasing uniforms – we ask that you contact your child’s Year Advisor who will be able to organise appropriate support.
