Open Mornings & Year Prep 2019 Enrolments

Prep enrolments for 2019 are now open and I ask that all families who have a child starting school here next year to collect an enrolment form from the school office (or download it from our website) and return it at your earliest convenience (applications close Friday 29th June).

Today we held the first of our Open Mornings  and it was wonderful to meet the new families who came to explore our school.  Our Year 5/6 Leaders conducted the school tours and we had some wonderful feedback from families regarding how impressive their Tour Guides were.

Our next Open Morning is scheduled for this Friday and is specifically tailored for our Year Prep 2019 intake so feel free to share this information with families you know who may be searching for a school for their child next year.

Athletics Carnival

A reminder that our  Athletics Carnival will be held this coming Monday 23rd April  at Moonee Ponds Athletics Track (Aberfeldie Park).

Thank you to all those parents who indicated they were available to volunteer. Letters were sent home yesterday, to those parents with valid WWCCs, outlining their role for the day. Please note we now have a sufficient  number of volunteers for this event.

All children (Year Prep – Year 6) will be transported by bus to the track for a 9:30 am start and will return around 1:30pm.

BUSES WILL DEPART FROM SCHOOL AS CLOSE TO 9:00AM AS POSSIBLE, SO PLEASE BE ON TIME!

If you haven't completed  your  e-Form (Permissions Form) via CareMonkey, this NEEDS to be ‘signed off’ immediately so your children can attend.

All children will be involved in the sprint events. In addition, Years 3-6 will participate in the field events while our Years Prep – 2 children will participate in a tabloid sport arrangement.

The children need to bring lunch on the day which they  will eat  upon their return to school. Children will need to:

  • Wear sports uniform (Children may wear a T-shirt of their team’s colour)
  • Bring a refillable water bottle
  • Bring ‘playlunch’ in a plastic disposable bag (please pack an extra ‘something’ as the children will not be having lunch until their return to school)
  • Have an extra-large healthy breakfast!

Please be advised that buses will be gathering in Ormond Road on Monday morning so parking will be restricted in this area.

Year 5/6 City Camp

Next Thursday our Year 5/6 students and their teachers (along with Mrs Nathalie Fraser, Mrs Anne Di Stefano and Mr Sam Hunt) will head off to City Camp for their 2 day, 1 night experience.

The idea of the City Camp Experience is to immerse our children in the various cultural, educational and recreational activities Melbourne has to offer. The itinerary for the camp includes: IMAX , Melbourne Museum,  Laneways and City tour including ACMI ,  SeaLife Aquarium and the Old Melbourne Gaol. We hope they have a wonderful time.

Time Table Changes

In order to facilitate the Year 5/6 Camp there will be major timetable changes next week. Please refer to the details below. Children will need to wear their sports uniform only on days where they are scheduled for Physical Education classes.

PFA

Our Annual General Meeting for our Parents and Friends Committee (PFA) will be held next Tuesday 24th April at 7:00pm.

All parents are invited to attend to find out all about our direction for 2018.

As per our PFA Operational Guidelines, at the AGM  a brief Annual Report will be presented by the Chairperson and Treasurer and then the office bearing positions of Chairperson and Secretary will be declared open and we will call for nominations of candidates and elect our new committee.

The Parents and Friends Association has a key role in developing the community of parents, students and staff and exists to help the school in the following ways:

  • To foster family/school engagement
  • To support the school with social/family activities
  • To help the school financially by raising funds for specific/ general purposes
  • To assist with special activities
  • To suggest the priorities for the disbursement of PFA funds

Meetings are only held once or twice each term.

The Parents and Friends Association is open to all parents who have children enrolled in the school and any interested members of the Parish community.

So, if you are interested, please come along.

Student Portfolios

We hope you have taken some time over the holidays to explore your child’s portfolio and rejoice in his/her successes. We now ask that you return it to school (with the Parent Comment section complete) so that we can continue to compile many more wonderful work samples.

Uniform

A reminder that children are to transition into their winter uniform as from the start of this term. For the first two weeks, dependent on weather, families can choose which uniform to wear (please do NOT mix and match). Children are expected to be in full winter uniform by 30th April.

Sun Smart

Please be advised that hats are still to be worn while outside until the end of April.

Have a wonderful week

God Bless
