Waratah House wins House Swimming!

Congratulations to all students who participated at the House Swimming sports last week. We had a great day weather wise and the students looked fantastic wearing their house colours.

 

Students had the opportunity to compete in the competitive events and the novelty events throughout the day. There were some outstanding performances in the pool and our swimming team looks strong to compete at the Monash Division Swimming Carnival on Thursday February 27.

Students who earned the most points for their house in each age group are awarded Age Champion for 2020.

The best performing Mentor Group in the school that earned the most points for their house/s was 7E2! Well done! The following mentor groups were the best performing mentor groups at their year level; 8B2, 9E1, 10R3, 11G2, 12Y1. Well done!

SSV & TeamVic

For those students interested in trying out for a School Sport Victoria (SSV) TeamVic interstate sports team please check the www.ssv.vic.edu.au website. There are various closing dates for nominations. To be eligible you must be under the age indicated as at 31 December 2020 or otherwise stated.

 

Simply click on the ‘TeamVic’ button on the website at the top of the SSV webpage, and then click on the sport you are interested in. All the information is available on their website. Trial fees are paid at the same time and can only be paid using a credit card.

 

Also if you are still 12 and under in a secondary school you are eligible to try out for a Primary (SSV) TeamVic interstate team.

Athletics Carnival Information for Parents

Venue- Bill Sewart Athletics Track Burwood Hwy, Burwood East VIC 3151 (Melways 62 C8)

Date- Friday, March 13th 2020

Consent- Parents must consent on Compass by 11.59pm, Wednesday 11th March in order for the student/s to be legally allowed to attend the event. Students who do not have consent will not be able to attend the athletics. Please note that there will be no program running at school on the day as all teaching staff are required to attend the Athletics Carnival.

Student entries – Students can enter a maximum of 8 events via a link on their compass newsfeed.

Phone Policy – Please read the Personal Mobile Device Policy for the House Athletics Carnival in the “resources” tab of the event on compass.

Transport: AM - Students are expected to be at Brentwood Secondary College by normal school time. Students will report to their mentor group at 8.50am for roll call. Students will be called to the tennis courts for departure by bus to Bill Sewart Athletics Track.

Transport: PM - Students will report to their mentor group teacher for roll marking at Bill Sewart Athletics Track. Students will be shuttled, by bus, back to Brentwood Secondary by 3.05pm.

To ensure safe and orderly management of the event, any student who is required to leave early will need to be collected by their parent or guardian in person at the entry gate. Verbal consent and notes on the day to leave early without a parent/guardian will not be accepted.

 

General Information:

  • Students are expected to dress in their house colours (Waratah - Red, Jacaranda - Blue, Banksia - Green, Wattle - Yellow). Students DO NOT wear school uniform.
  • Remember hats, sunscreen and fluids (Emphasize the importance of being safe in the sun!)
  • There are no canteen facilities. However, there will be a sausage sizzle on the day with $2 sausages in bread and $2 soft drinks. All profits will go to the State Schools Relief Fund.
  • Parents who would like to attend the carnival will need to complete a parent pass form; these are available at Brentwood’s main office. The form must be competed and returned to the main office by no later than Thursday March 12th at 3:30pm. If you do not have a pass you will not be allowed to enter the event.

TeamVic – Luke Russell

Congratulations to Luke Russell, in year 9, who has been selected as part of the Team Vic 17 Years & Under Boys Softball State Team to represent SSV at the School Sport Australia Softball Championship to be held in Mirrabooka WA, from 9 to 16 May, 2020.

 

A fantastic achievement! Well done Luke!
