Student Wellbeing Manager

Hi Everyone,  I am Tanya Vella the new Student Wellbeing Manager.  I am delighted to be part of John Fawkner College.  I will be overseeing the Student Wellbeing Team as well as working with some students and families individually.

For the last 3 ½ years I worked at a school in Dallas for students with intellectual disabilities. Prior to that I worked at Victoria University lecturing in the Youth Work degree and for 22 years I supported children and young people whom have been affected by trauma.

In my spare time- when I have some.  I like to watch bands, go to the beach, attend markets and cook. I love the warmer months.

Chaplain:

Hello, my name is Beverley Hardi and I am the School Chaplain at John Fawkner College. I work Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays in the Well-being space.

I enjoy going to the gym, watching cinema movies, spending quality time with my family and friends . I especially  love  new life experiences, travelling and meeting new people!

My role at JFC is to support the emotional wellbeing of students by providing pastoral care services and strategies that support the  wellbeing of the broader school community. Pastoral care is looking after the personal needs of students, by providing general emotional, spiritual & personal support and pastoral care counselling.

I facilitate the weekly Breakfast club,  assist in facilitating the  Student wellbeing programs and workshops,  along with being a supportive presence within the School community

I look forward to meeting students and parents this year in person.

School Nurse:

Hello, my name is Janan Allouche and I am an Adolescent Health Nurse at John Fawkner College. I work Monday and Tuesday in the Well-being space.

I love gardening, indoor plants and spending time with family and friends. I also love learning new things.

My role at JFC is to provide health education to students and staff either in class along-side teachers, to individuals in the well-being space, or as a whole school.

I also promote a healthy lifestyle for students and staff at John Fawkner College through days such as Safe Internet Day, White Ribbon Day and Harmony Week.

I look forward to meeting students and parents this year in person.

Mental Health Practitioner:

Hi everyone, my name is Jazmin Pursell and I am a Mental Health Practitioner at John Fawkner College on Thursdays and Fridays. My role is newly created and it involves counselling students with wellbeing/mental health concerns and I am also looking to run small groups with students around wellbeing issues alongside our Wellbeing team.

In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, cook and bake and trying out new recipes. I really enjoy going to the beach and being outdoors.

I am a social worker and I enjoy working with students and their families to offer any support I can and also link them in with any other services in the community. In addition to my role at John Fawkner College, I also work at a primary school.

I look forward to meeting you all.
