Maths and Numeracy

In our 7 to 9 classes students have started 2021 extremely well through engaging in concepts about Number. A highlight so far has been their participation in problem solving tasks. There has been a real buzz in the classrooms during these lessons, and it is encouraging to see students work together in creative ways to solve challenging problems. Students have also been getting stuck into their Math's Pathways work with the first round of fortnightly tests seeing promising learning growth.

Year 10 students have also had a very productive start to the year in learning about important real life applications of Maths through their Financial Maths and House and Land Package assignments.

Our Year 11 and 12 classes have hit the ground running in their various VCE Maths and VCAL numeracy coursework. The level independence these students have gained through remote and flexible learning in 2020 is really showing in the first few weeks of this year. In particular, congratulations to the Year 12 students who have had excellent attendance in their online Maths lessons amidst the snap 5 day lockdown. They have really kept up the momentum of learning despite this disruption.

And lastly, to keep up the excellent effort shown so far this year we encourage all parents and students to use the learning tasks feature on Compass to keep up to date on work submission.
