Year 11 & 12 Update
Welcome to a new year at John Fawkner College! It hasn't been the easiest start to the year, but I know for a fact that this group of seniors will excel in anything they set their minds to.
Glenn Manton Workshop
In the second week of school, Glenn Manton attended the school for year 12 VCE students. Glenn Manton is an authentic speaker who runs workshops for young people and allows them to express and share emotions freely with their peers. Our students really enjoyed the session and look forward to Glenn coming back in Term 4. Here are some student experiences from the workshop:
"The Glenn Manton workshop was a great opportunity for many year 12 students to see a different take on life and it definitely changed my perspective with alot of things I look at in my life."
Sebastian Waterman
"He spoke to us about his upbringing and told us his stories about how he got to where he is today. He got us thinking about questions we've never been asked and had to come up with answers that were outside the box. We even got the chance to ask Glenn questions and have a laugh after the incursion was over. It was a great experience and can't wait to see him again."

Swimming Carnival
On Wednesday the 12th of February, JFC held their annual swimming carnival at Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre. It was a beautiful day to participate in swimming activities! The Year 11 and 12 students had a high participation rate and earned plenty of points for their houses. It was so nice to see all of the Year 12s dressed up in their house colours and different outfits on their last swimming carnival. Congratulations to Thorpe for tallying up the most amount of points for the day, and also congratulations to Maximus Hastings-Rumoro and Deha Kurul for receiving the year level champions award. Here are some snapshots from the day:
Just wanted to extend my thanks to all of the support that students have been receiving from teachers, parents and their peers. Let's keep that support going!
Until next time...here is a quote as a parting thought.
"It's what you do now that makes a difference." - Struecker
