Assistant Principal Update

It has been a pleasure to welcome your children, along with our staff back to John Fawkner College for the 2021 school year! For our new families who have joined our learning community, we extend an extra warm welcome to you and trust that your child's journey with us here at JFC, is a fulfilling one. 

In 2019 we undertook a review of our professional practice and after consultation with our community, Teaching and Learning at JFC will be underpinned by the explicit teaching of Literacy in all subject areas, a differentiated curriculum designed to meet the point of need for every student in the classroom, and quality teaching to increase student engagement and learning outcomes. 

We are excited about our Teaching and Learning journey for 2021 and would like to extend the invitation to you, our families, to reflect on the learning progress of your child throughout the year. Here are 5 questions you can ask your child to involve yourself in some powerful informative conversations about their learning;

1. What did you learn today?
2. How did you do?
3. What did you do if you didn't understand?
4. How can you improve your learning?
5. What are you most proud of?

As we progress through the year, I will keep you updated on our journey and encourage you to take up the opportunity to engage in conversation with your child and their classroom teacher. It is important that we work in a partnership to ensure excellence in Teaching and Learning and ultimately the greatest success for your child.
