Health & Physical Education

Foundation: Our Foundation students have continued to focus on the concepts involved with the bodies Fundamental movements. This was achieved through running short mini games that allow them to practise movements such as skipping, hopping, accelerating and decelerating. They have also participated in a Yoga lesson that taught them how the body can hold certain positions.

In week five, the foundation students were introduced to the underarm throw technique (Tik, Tok, Step and Rock). They practised this in pairs and through small based activities.

Level 1 & 2: Students in the level 1 and 2 cohorts have been working through the technique involved with underarm throwing (Tik, Tok, Step and Rock). In their first lesson, they moved through a variety of stations using different items such as beanbags and tennis balls to execute the learned technique. It was great to see the improvement throughout the entire lesson. During their second lesson, we incorporate some Indigenous games to assist them with applying the underarm throw technique. One of the games played was called Borne Joke.

In week five, level one students progressed to the overarm throwing technique (Strongman/Strong girl). Once again, we used different stations and items to help practise this technique. In week five, level two students began their gymnastics sporting schools program.

Level 3 & 4: Level 3 & 4 students completed a lesson which tested a set of their skills e.g. vertical jump, seated wall throw, left and right foot kick, and right and left hand dribbling. Some of the results were amazing!

In week five, the grade 3/4 students began their LaunchPad Gymnastics Sporting Schools Program.

Level 5 & 6: Level 5 & 6 students completed a lesson which tested a set of their skills e.g. vertical jump, seated wall throw, left and right foot kick, and right and left hand dribbling. Some of the results were amazing!

In week five, the students will be working through skills which are associated with striking. These skills will then be applied to the game T-Ball.

District Swimming: Twenty-three students represented our school at the District Swimming Carnival at Belgrave Outdoor Pool on 22/02/21. I am so proud of the way each student conducted themselves on the day. They all were respectful, responsible and resilient. I would also like to congratulate them all for the wonderful team spirit they displayed. A further congratulations goes to the seventeen students who have now progressed through to the Division Swimming Carnival on 03/03/21. All the best and good luck!
