From the School Leadership Team,

From Chris Chant,

Principal

Welcome back to Caulfield Junior College for the start of the 2021 school year. The year ahead offers us all so much promise and the positive atmosphere around the school is a great indication that we can approach the return to school with an expectation that we can commence the year as normally as possible.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the summer break and that you all had the opportunity to spend some quality family time together and catch up with friends and families.

The start to the school today has been very smooth, lots of smiles and a genuine high level of excitement from our students. The classrooms are all looking spectacular and I must thank our staff who have all spent time getting ready for their students to walk through the door this morning.

Welcome to our new students and families who have joined us today and we hope that your journey with us is positive and fruitful.

We have new staff who have joined the school this year and I would extend a warm welcome and offer my best wishes to

  • Katia Lewis                 French Additional Assistance Teacher
  • Laure Baque               Graduate teacher
  • Lea LeDuque              French Assistant
  • Will Romano-Egan   Graduate teacher in Year 3
  • Emily Wade                 Returning teacher in Year 3/4
  • Katrina Donald           Returning teacher in Year 1/2

We are asking families to continue the practice of dropping their students off in the morning when the gates open at 8.45am and allowing students to find their way to class and set up for their learning to commence promptly at 9am.

Parents are welcome to collect their students at the end of the day on Monday, Tuesday and Friday from outside the classroom. The gates will open at 3.25pm and we ask the community to be offsite by 3.45pm when we close the gates so our OSHC program has secure access to the playground. Parents must be socially distancing, mindful of others and ensuring the time on site is minimised.

The Balaclava Road, Stanley Parade, Sebastapol Street and Salisbury Street gates will operate as they did last year. The support of families in making this whole student arrival/departure process work so well last year has continued today and ask all families to continue this important work.

Our children have all arrived looking terrific today with new uniforms, their school bags in tow, lunch boxes ready to raid and a drink bottle to sit on their desk during the school day. Good to see all these items named!!

We are working towards having a huge reduction in the collection of lost items that gather alongside the art room stairs. Please continue to help us with clear labels.

There is a clear expectation that all students are in school uniform and arrive each day ready to learn. This is an important focus for us this year as we continue to raise our standards and expectations across all we do at the school.

A welcome message from the School Council President.

Stephen Loyer

Good afternoon everyone and and on behalf of the School Council I would like to welcome you all back to Caulfield Junior College for the new school year.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new students and their families and wish them all the very best during their time at CJC.

Our teachers and administration team have been busy in preparing for a busy year ahead and we hope that we won’t have the interruptions to the school year we endured in 2020.

We are excited to have our children back at school and I ask everyone to support and contribute wherever possible to ensure our school continues to grow, prosper and be the best place for our children to learn.

Good luck to everyone.

Stephen Loyer

School Council President
