Learning and Teaching

2021 is set to be an exciting year of learning for all members of our community- students and staff!

Inquiry Learning

Students from Prep- 6 will engage in learning in Inquiry through the big concept of Relationships and Community.

Inquiry is a collaborative process, involving higher-order thinking, in which teachers and students negotiate aspects of the curriculum including Science, Humanities (Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, Geography, History), Technologies (Design and Technologies, and Digital Technologies), Capabilities (Critical and Creative Thinking, Ethical, Intercultural, Personal and Social) and Religious Education.

Learning Intentions

Teachers use the Victorian Curriculum and Religious Education Framework to plan lessons, teach and assess students. For each lesson at Holy Family, the learning intention is used to clearly describe what the teacher wants the students to

  • know
  • be able to do; and
  • the dispositions needed to be successful learners

At Holy Family, we use the “KNOW, DO and BE framework for learning intentions to support students focus on what they will learn, rather than the activity they complete. The learning intentions are written on the board and shared with students at the beginning of a lesson.

Students will be sharing their learning on SeeSaw and at a learning expo at the end of the term. Families who have not signed up to SeeSaw have received their individual child’s details. Please sign up as soon as possible so you are able to see your child’s fabulous learning!
